MIDDLE SCHOOL

ENSEMBLES

Our Bands

The Moore Middle School Band Program consists of more than 400 students in grades six through eight. Jerry and Linda Moore Middle School Bands perform various genres of music and have fun attending contests and performances while representing Celina ISD at the highest level.  Students have the opportunity to showcase their musical abilities and support their school while participating in the Moore Middle School Band.

All of our Beginning Band students meet in like-instrument classes and progress into the two advanced bands listed below in seventh and eighth grade. In addition, our eighth graders have the option to serve in a leadership role as Band-Aides with the Celina High School Marching Band on the field during the marching band season. All Moore Middle School Band Students attend festivals, pep rallies, and exciting contests across the North Texas region.

Honors Band

The Moore Middle School Honors Band is our most advanced ensemble, designed to emphasize continued individual development in areas such as technique, tone, and music literacy through a progressive curriculum of upper middle school and even high school level literature. Students in this band must be highly proficient on their instrument and must be willing to commit to regular rehearsal and practice time.

In addition to daily class period rehearsals, students in the Symphonic Band should plan for one 45-minute sectional rehearsal per week outside of class, as well as an occasional extra full band rehearsal throughout the year. Students in this band are required to participate in the scheduled rehearsals, concerts, pep rallies, and contests. In addition, every student will audition for the ATSSB All Region Band and participate in the Solo & Ensemble Festival Contest.

It is also strongly recommended that the student participate in the district supplemental private lesson program.

Beginning Band

The Beginning Band is the first step in the journey as a member of the Moore Middle School Band.  Students in the Beginning Band will enjoy instrument specific classes where they can learn to play their chosen instrument in a small-group setting.  Students will learn how to properly assemble, hold, and play their instrument in a fun and progressive course designed to teach all of the skills necessary to perform concerts for your family and friends!

The Beginning Band will perform several concerts throughout the first year, as well as travel to Contests and Festivals to compete against bands from around the state. The Beginning Band is primarily made up of 6th grade students, but special consideration can be made on a case-by-case basis for older students interested in joining band.  You can start band in any grade, but the best time to start an instrumental skill is your first year of middle school!

Supplemental private lessons are available and are recommended by the Celina Band Directors. You can find information about each of the different instruments by clicking here!

The Moore Middle School Beginning Band has many trophies, including Best in Class at Sandy Lake Funfest, and most recently recieved the Best in Class trophy at The Colony's SunFest Band Contest. The Beginning Band has a rich history of making great music and fun memories!
