Our Bands
The Moore Middle School Band Program consists of more than 260 students in grades seven and eight. Jerry and Linda Moore Middle School Bands perform various genres of music and have fun attending contests and performances while representing Celina ISD at the highest level. Students have the opportunity to showcase their musical abilities and support their school while participating in the Moore Middle School Band.
All of our Beginning Band students meet in like-instrument classes and progress into the advanced bands listed below in their second and third years in Band. In addition, our top students have the option to serve in a leadership role as Band Direcor Aides in other MMS Band classes. All Moore Middle School Band Students attend festivals, pep rallies, and exciting contests across the North Texas region.

Honors Band
Directed by Mrs. McHenry
The Moore Middle School Honors Band is our most advanced ensemble, designed to emphasize continued individual development in areas such as technique, tone, and music literacy through a progressive curriculum of upper middle school and even high school level literature. Students in this band must be highly proficient on their instrument and must be willing to commit to regular rehearsal and practice time.
In addition to daily class period rehearsals, students in the Honors Band should plan for one 60-minute sectional rehearsal per week outside of class, as well as an occasional extra full band rehearsal throughout the year. Students in this band are required to participate in the scheduled rehearsals, sectionals, concerts, pep rallies, and contests. In addition, every student will audition for the All Region Band and participate in the Solo & Ensemble Festival Contest.
It is also strongly recommended that the student participate in the district supplemental private lesson program.
The Moore Middle School Honors Band is under the direction of Mrs. McHenry. On occasion, the Honors Band may utilize the Moore Middle School Advisory for extended rehearsals leading up to the UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest. Beginning Band
Directed by Mrs. McHenry & Ms. Terral
The Beginning Band is the first step in the journey as a member of the Moore Middle School Band. Students in the Beginning Band will enjoy instrument specific classes where they can learn to play their chosen instrument in a small-group setting. Students will learn how to properly assemble, hold, and play their instrument in a fun and progressive course designed to teach all of the skills necessary to perform concerts for your family and friends!
The Beginning Band will perform several concerts throughout the first year, as well as travel to Contests and Festivals to compete against bands from around the state. The Beginning Band is primarily taught at Willard Middle School during students' 6th grade year; however, while we are currently a 7/8 campus, we are teaching a heterogeneous class of Woodwinds and Brass students at the same time. Beginning Percussionists will be taught alongside Concert Band Percussion students.
Supplemental private lessons are available and are recommended by the Celina Band Directors. You can find information about each of the different instruments by clicking here!
