
MIDDLE SCHOOL DIRECTORS

Heather McHenry
Heather McHenry earned her Bachelor of Music Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was the head drum major of the 325-member “Spirit of Northwestern” marching band. Mrs. McHenry began her teaching career in Carlisle ISD, where she assisted and prepared students for their Texas State Honor Band Concert in 2006. She soon moved to Garland ISD, where she spent 2 years teaching at Bussey Middle School and 16 years at Coyle MST in Rowlett. During her time in GISD, she was an assistant band director, head band director, fine arts department head, and lead middle school band director for the district. Mrs. McHenry is entering her second year as the Head Band Director at Moore Middle School in Celina ISD.
Under her direction, Mrs. McHenry’s bands have earned numerous Superior awards at UIL and various competitions. Most recently, the Moore Middle School Honors Band competed at the Outstanding Performance Series at the State level, earning 2nd, 4th, and 7th place awards in the CC/CCC Varsity category. She received the honor of Coyle MST Teacher of the Year in 2022. Mrs. McHenry is an active member of the Association of Texas Small School Bands, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association.
Mrs. McHenry’s husband, Chris, is also a band director in Melissa ISD, and their 14 year-old twins are members of the band and colorguard. She is a product of 2 retired band directors and a proud sister to an elementary music teacher, fine arts director, and superintendent.

Hannah Terral
Ms. Terral is starting her first year at Moore Middle School and her fourth year of teaching. Before her appointment at Moore, Ms. Terral served as the Assistant Band Director at Lufkin Middle School in Lufkin, Texas. Ms. Terral was the director of the non-varsity band and taught beginner classes. Under her direction, the non-varsity band earned consistent Superior Ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest.
Ms. Terral earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. While at SFA, she performed with the Symphony Orchestra, was principal clarinetist of the Wind Ensemble, and served as the Operations Manager of the Lumberjack Marching Band for two years.
Ms. Terral is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Women Band Directors International.
Ms. Terral resides in Celina, TX, and loves running, baking, reading, and spending time with family and friends in her spare time.

Glenna Vela
pronounced "Vehl-uh"
Glenna Vela serves as an assistant director at Jerry and Linda Moore Middle School. Mrs. Vela is a graduate of Celina High school! Mrs. Vela's responsibilities at Moore Middle School include conducting the Symphonic and Concert Bands, assisting with the Honors Band and the Wind Ensemble, as well as teaching beginning horn, trombone, and saxophone.
Mrs. Vela graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M University-Commerce with a degree in Music Education in 2023. While at TAMUC, Mrs. Vela studied horn under Mr. Michael Morrow and performed in the Wind Ensemble. Mrs. Vela also participated in the “Pride” Marching Band, where she served as mellophone section leader and as a Drum Major. Other ensemble experiences included the "Pride of the Court" Basketball Band and the Steel Band Percussion Ensemble.
In the summer of 2025, Mrs. Vela was a part of the North Texas Musicians Abroad staff, where she taught and performed in France, Germany, & Austria. Prior to becoming a band director, Mrs. Vela teched for marching bands, taught private lessons, and worked on the TAMUC Leadership camp staff.
Mrs. Vela's professional memberships include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, the Young Band Directors of Texas, and Kappa Kappa Psi. Mrs. Vela is the 2022 recipient of The Texas Bandmasters Association's Malcolm Helm Memorial Scholarship.
In her spare time, Mrs. Vela enjoys spending time with her husband, Jesse, who is the assistant percussion director in Allen ISD, playing board games with her friends, and adventuring with her family!
